LG The World Thinnest LCD

The Thinnest LCD

LG LCD TV – Thinnest Ever At 5.9mm (42 and 46 inches)

LG has reportedly proven that not only OLED televisions are super-slim, by releasing a pair of new LCD screens. Both the 42 inch and 46 inch models measure 5.9mm, breaking the world record for slimmest LCD display at those sizes. Not as thin as Sony’s XEL-1 OLED televisions, at 3mm thick, but definitely much bigger, considering the XEL-1 sizes up at a pitiful 11 inches.

Weight is just as impressive. At 6.1kg and 7.3kg respectively, there aren’t many people who’ll find themselves struggling to lump the sets into their home from the car.

Don’t expect a compromise of quality or eco-friendliness, either. 120MHz prevents blurry footage, without sucking up masses of energy. Only one fly in the ointment is currently known – a lack of LED backlight. Only the edges of the screen are backlit, but LG are rumoured to be working on a full backlight, thankfully.

Nobody knows how much lighter your pockets will be after purchasing one of these. Rest assured they won’t be cheap, especially if you keep saying ‘what’s on the box’.
